Dube Ties SHU Career Touchdown Record In Loss To Duquesne

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Wide Receiver Tyler Dube tied the Sacred Heart career touchdown record Saturday as the Pioneers fell to Duquesne 41-14 at Campus Field.

Dube caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from RJ Noel with 5:13 left in the fourth quarter for his 37th career touchdown, tying Steve Tedesco for the Pioneers' all-time touchdown record. He finished the day a team-high six receptions for 54 yards. Noel was 21-for-33 passing for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Ose Imeokparia ran the ball 16 times for 65 yards. Nate Chavious had 103 yards of total offense, including three receptions for 46 yards. Moses Webb had three receptions for 29 yards, and also led the Pioneer defense with eight tackles.

Duquesne (7-3, 4-1 NEC) outgained Sacred Heart (4-5, 1-3 NEC) 449-337. Dillon Buechel was 22-for-37 for 320 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Wide Receiver Wayne Capers had six receptions for 144 yards, as Chris King added nine catches for 11 yards. The Dukes were 4-for-4 in the red zone while the Pioneers scored twice on four red zone chances. 

Sacred Heart travels to Bryant next Saturday for a 12 p.m. game. 

FIRST QUARTER

13:26 to play – DUQ 7, SHU 0; Duquesne drove 69 yards on the opening drive, capping it off with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Buechel to Reggie McKnight.

7:16 to play – DUQ 14, SHU 0; Buechel threw his second touchdown pass of the game, connecting with King on an 18-yard scoring strike.

2:46 to play – DUQ 21, SHU 0; After an Austin Crimmins punt pinned the Pioneers to the five yardline, RJ Noel fumbled the ball in the end zone. Duquesne's Zach Zidian fell on the loose ball for the touchdown.

SECOND QUARTER 

11:13 to play – DUQ 28, SHU 0; The Pioneers had a chance to get on the scoreboard, but couldn't convert on 4th-and-1 from the Dukes' 12 yardline. Duquesne then drove 88 yards for its fourth score of the game, a 13-yard rushing touchdown by Rafiq Douglas.

6:12 to play – DUQ 28, SHU 7; Sacred Heart gets on the scoreboard as Noel scrambles to find an open Andrew O'Neill for a 15-yard touchdown pass.

2:17 to play – DUQ 31, SHU 7; The Dukes extended their lead on a 32-yard field goal by Crimmins.

THIRD QUARTER

10:49 to play – Sacred Heart drives to the Duquesne four yardline to open the second half, but didn't score on 4th-and-goal.

FOURTH QUARTER

12:34 to play – DUQ 34, SHU 7; Crimmins made his second field goal of the game from 27 yards out.

7:51 to play – DUQ 41, SHU 7; Christian Kuntz runs back an interception nine yards for a touchdown.

5:17 to play – DUQ 41, SHU 14; Dube ties Steve Tedesco as Sacred Heart's all-time touchdown leader with a 13-yard reception. It was his 35th career touchdown reception.
