Sacred Heart Field Hockey team Defeated by Lock Haven 2-0

(Fairfield, CT) – Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT) made eight saves, however the Lock Haven Lady Eagles defeated the Sacred Heart University Field Hockey team 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Campus Field.

Leslie Ahern scored the game's first goal at 27:47, taking a pass from Kristi Shepps and moving to flip a shot past Stow to give Lock Haven a 1-0 lead.  Ahern and Shepps hooked up again early in the second half to make it 2-0 at 38:20. Shepps dribbled down the left side into the circle and dished a pass to Ahern for another one-on-one opportunity against Stow.

Lady Eagles goalkeeper Kelsey Moll denied a couple of good opportunities for SHU throughout the game.  She came out aggressively to challenge a one-time by Karly Duven (Freehold, NJ) 15 minutes into the game, and also stopped Lindsay Kasten (Fair Haven, NJ) on a chance from in tight about seven minutes into the second half. She made another solid stop on a deflection attempt by Kasten off a corner with 18:30 to play.  She maintained the shutout with back-to-back saves on Duven and Kasten in the last minute of the game from in close as well, finishing with 10 saves.

The Pioneers play again at Campus Field Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when they host LaSalle.
