Box Score (Fairfield, CT) - For more than 60 minutes, Sacred Heart and
Monmouth battled to a scoreless tie until Kimmy Baligian finally
solved Pioneer goalkeeper Kim
Stow (Norwalk, CT). Baligian scored at the 60:16
mark to propel the Hawks to a 1-0 win over the Pioneer field hockey
team Friday afternoon at Campus Field.
Baligian took a pass from Melissa Muphy from the left side
of the circle and quickly got the shot off for the game's lone
goal. Stow once again played solid in goal, making nine
saves. She came into the game leading the Northeast
Conference with an average of ten saves per game.
Monmouth remains the top team in the NEC, improving to
10-3. Sacred Heart is next in action Sunday afternoon at 3:00
p.m., when the Pioneers close out a four-game home stand by hosting
second-place Rider.
