Senior Corey Hassan (Merrimack, NH) poured in a game-high 26 points, while senior Ryan Litke (Windsor, CT) added 21 to lead the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team to an 84-60 Northeast Conference win over visiting Bryant University Saturday afternoon.
An early 11-0 run by the Pioneers opened up a 16-5 lead and they never looked back. SHU shot 58 percent in the first half and led 45-29 at the intermission. The Pioneers didn't commit their first turnover until the final five seconds of the half.
Sacred Heart, 12-7 overall and 5-3 in the NEC, outscored the Bulldogs 20-5 to start the second half to stretch the lead to 65-34.
The Pioneers shot 57 percent from the field for the game, including 11-20 (55%) from three-point range.
Hassan's point total marked the ninth time this season he has eclipsed twenty points. It was the second time for Litke, who also contributed a team-best seven rebounds.
Vlad Kondratyev led Bryant, 0-20 and 0-8, with 20 points. Adam Parzych added 16.
