Women's Volleyball Wins Second Straight

PROVIDENCE, RI - The two Pioneer rookie women's volleyball players continued to impress Saturday morning, and got some help from a couple of veterans as Sacred Heart defeated St. Francis (NY) 3-0 in the second round of the Friar Classic.

Freshman Mydori Saipale (Oxnard, CA) had a match-high 13 kills, while collecting 16 digs. Fellow freshman Courtney Kidd-Kadlubek had a match-best 34 assists to lead the Pioneers to the sweep.

Senior Christine Duffy (Massapequa, NY) had her second straight strong performance as well with ten kills and 11 digs. Alex Bavasi (Flagstaff, AZ) also had an excellent match with eight kills. Junior Kendra Sloan (Bristow, VA) also had eight kills in just two games, hitting an impressive .467.

The Pioneers will look for the sweep of the Classic this afternoon at 5, when they take on the host Providence College Friars.
