HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - Adam Gonzalez scored 18 points, including one free throw with five seconds left, to lead Quinnipiac to a 72-68 win over Sacred Heart in Northeast Conference play Thursday night.
Kibwe Trim and Jarrid Frye each scored 23 for Sacred Heart.
Sacred Heart, which trailed by 13 with 7:02 left, went on a 17-3 run and took a 64-63 lead on two Luke Granato free throws with 2:31 to go. After Gonzalez and Frye traded layups, Quinnipiac's Craig Benson hit a 3-pointer from the left corner with 1:12 left to put the Bobcats up for good.
John Winchester scored 13 points for Quinnipiac (9-11, 4-7 NEC), including three free throws in the final 35 seconds. Chris Wehye added nine points and seven rebounds.
Gonzalez added four assists and five steals for the Bobcats, who have won three of four.
Sacred Heart (9-11, 6-5) had 20 turnovers. Trim added 11 rebounds for the Pioneers, who have lost three straight.
