Final Stats

ALBANY, NY - Senior center Kibwe Trim scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Sacred Heart men's basketball team to a 63-61 win over the University at Albany on Monday night.

Sacred Heart, now 1-1, led 34-32 at the half, despite turning the ball over 14 times in the period. The Pioneers also out rebounded the Great Danes 19-8 in the half.

The Pioneers built their lead as high as 13 in the second half, 52-39 with 11:38 to go on a fast-break bucket by sophomore Luke Granato. SHU turnovers allowed the Great danes to trim it all the way to two at 56-54 on a Jon Iati three with 4:49 to play.

A three by Tavio Hobson and a Trim layup gave the Pioneers a 61-54 lead with 3:13 left. Albany scored the next seven and a Iati three with :25 to go tied the game at 61-61.

SHU pushed the ball down the court and worked it immediately inside to Trim who was fouled. The senior calmly sank both tried. Albany raced back the other way but were never able to get a shot off as an inside pass was tipped in the air and the horn sounded before it came back down.

Trim, who was nine of 11 from the line, was the only Pioneer in double figures. Jarrid Frye had eight points, ten rebounds and seven assists, while Brice Brooks added seven points and eight boards.

Iati led Albany with 20 points, while Jamaar Wilson added 15.
