Gregory Wisser enters his third season in 2024-25, as an assistant coach for the Sacred Heart University men’s and women’s track and field teams, serving as SHU’s throws coach.
In 2023-24, Wisser pulled double duty for the Pios, serving as the lead coach for SHU’s multi’s and vertical jumps in addition to his main duties as the throws coach. With his efforts, the Pioneers grabbed their first Northeast Conference (NEC) title since 2018, being crowned NEC Outdoor Women’s Track & Field Champions in SHU’s final season in the conference with Wisser helping coach five women’s medalists and one men’s medalist during the championship. The Pioneer women also took home NEC Runner-Up honors during the 2023-24 Indoor season with Wisser helping coach one medalist at the NEC Indoor Championships before aiding three of SHU’s multi’s to podium finishes at the NEICAAA Indoor Championships.
Wisser joined the Pioneers in 2022-23 with a plethora of track coaching experience at all different levels. Before SHU, he served as an assistant track and field coach with the women’s team at Robert Morris University for two years, specializing in both jumps and throws. Wisser also spent nine years working with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at the University of Vermont.
In addition to his Division I experience, Wisser made track and field coaching stops at DIII Plattsburgh State University and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
Over his career, Wisser has coached four All-Americans and 13 NCAA Qualifiers. Overall, he has coached 25 conference champions including three ECAC Championship squads.
